A visit to Michigan Spirits will introduce you to small batch artisanal whiskey, gin and vodka made with the finest local ingredients sourced directly from farms near the distillery and tasting room located in the heart of the historic Eastern Market. Eight childhood friends teamed up to create a uniquely Detroit product that captures the city’s spirit of entrepreneurialism.
Popular pours include Butcher’s Cut Bourbon, distiller JP Jerome’s ode to his grandfather, a butcher in Detroit who lost a finger while making a cut into a whiskey barrel; and Grass Widow Bourbon, a high-rye bourbon that uses rye from Ann Arbor’s Wing Farms. Sample them and other single-barrel whiskeys during a tour or sip one of the signature craft cocktails like the Doctor Bird Rum, a cocktail featuring rose liqueur, demerara syrup, lime, hellfire bitters and salt with an optional chili rim.

The Whiskey Factory is also a premier venue space that hosts weddings, corporate events and other special occasions. The building formerly housed Goebel Brewery and Stroh’s Ice Cream, a legacy that continues today.
After years of planning and work, the distillery is finally open for tours and tastings. During your visit, you’ll enjoy a taste of the Weiss family legacy in the form of their vodka, gin, rum and absinthe. You can even try a cocktail made with their one-year anniversary bourbon, Weiss in the Wild, which is wrapped in a tropical rainforest theme complete with tiki huts and monkeys hanging from the ceiling while animal noises play.
