HGM voor WBSO aanvragen is a Dutch tax scheme for renewal and stimulation of technical innovation, especially by cutting payroll taxes on R&D. It covers the development of new technological products, production processes and software as well as technical scientific research. It can be beneficial for all types of companies but is particularly valuable to startups.
Companies can deduct a portion of their R&D hours and costs from wage tax payments as long as they comply with certain conditions, including accurate time registration. The more precise your records are, the more you can lower your R&D costs and increase your profit margin. TimeChimp makes it easy to meet these requirements. We have made an integration with the WBSO software specialist RVO to support you in registering and claiming the R&D hours and costs that you are eligible for.
WBSO Application Deadlines: When and How to Apply
You can either report the total amount that you expect to spend on WBSO projects or use the actual amounts incurred. In the latter case, it is important that you keep accurate records of your actual costs and expenses, for example by using a cost model that calculates your project costs based on the number of hours worked.
The RVO can carry out control visits to verify your administration, which means that you must keep documentation of all the R&D activities for which you have applied for the WBSO subsidy. This documentation must be ready to show to the inspector, which is why it’s good practice to use a WBSO software system that supports you and your employees in keeping up-to-date records.
